Helpful Room Hints

Origination

The picture below is of the Custom Switch Page set for an Origination course. The Custom Switch is found by selecting the upper right hand button on the Codec Video Layout page. Please note that if you are using a different present source, "1 Projector" will change depending on the source being shared. The photo below shows the PC being shared. The picture below is a good starting point to setting up the room, but it may be customizable depending on the preference of the instructor. If you need to change sources, remember to click, drag, and drop the sources from the selections above to the desired location.

Receive (Split View)

Below, the Custom Switch and the Custom Layouts pages are set for a Receive course. This will set up the room to show the instructor full screen on the smaller TV on the right and their Presentation source full screen on the Projector. If the projector does not show anything (is blank), it most likely means the originating site is not sending out a presentation. The projector will remain black until a present source is sent from the originating site.

NOTICE: The facilitator monitor is only capable of showing the sites, not the facilitator view (sites, presentation, selfview all on the same screen).

Sharing Laptop Present Sources and the Instructor's PC Monitor

When sharing the laptop present source, you will notice that the Podium Monitor, or the Instructor's PC monitor in the front of the classroom, changes sources to match what is being shown on the Laptop. If you need to change the monitor back to the PC source, Go to the Custom Video Switch tab under the Custom Layouts tab. Here, you will see the different sources labelled. You can change the source in the location named "Podium Touch Mon", which refers to the Instructor's monitor in the front of the classroom. Simply change this back to PC and you will be good to go!

Wireless Instructor Mics

There are two wireless instructor microphones in this room. Both mics can be used separately, or at the same time. Mics are located in a rack of equipment inside a storage closet near the instructor podium. The batteries in these mics are rechargeable. Always make sure to place the mics back in their stand and press down firmly to ensure they recharge.

Instructor Computer Access

The instructor computer is located in the storage closet near the instructor podium. This should only need to be accessed if the instructor wants to play a DVD. There are USB ports on the side of the monitor that will connect to the instructor PC.

Known Issues

Window shades and filter currently do not work. Use the switch on the wall by the light switch.

We’ve received some reports of the student microphones including a lot of ambient/static noise. This noise comes from the microphones picking up the fan of the HVAC system in the room.

This issue has a work around for receive classes by keeping the student microphones unmuted, but then muting and unmuting the All Mute button when needed. By doing it this way, it prevents the loud noise/interference that happens when the mics are turned on and will provide a much smoother transition when turning the microphones on.

For Origination courses, there is no current work around to fix the issue. If it becomes a problem, please let us know.

It has come to our attention that every so often, when you match the Custom Video Switch and the Codec Video Layout photos for the Receive (Split View) section, it may not appear correctly. What we have found that fixes the issue is to Swap Off of the "Full Screen" Codec Video Layout, swap to another option availalbe (like Auto or Overlay), then swap back to "Full Screen". That gets the system thinking correctly and will get your sources showing properly. If this is confusing or this does not work for you, please open up a chat and we will walk you through it.
